Viktor Szentpéteri - MATE Research
Overview
Viktor Szentpéteri MSc. is an assistant research fellow at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Institute of Genetics and Biotechnology, Department of Microbiology and Applied Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology and Microbiomics Group. His research focuses on abiotic stress mitigation or tolerance boosting of plants with the help of soil born microbes especially arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. VSZ’s work contributes to questions of: How the presence of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi influences plant health? Are mycorrhizal plants more resilient to global warming induced harmful weather conditions like drought and heat? What pathways take part in the enhanced abiotic resistance of plants inoculated by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi? Across his research, he uses classical and molecular microbiology and observes plant physiological and gene expression changes under stress conditions. His findings are instrumental in solving today’s challenges in agriculture. He authored and co-authored 6 research articles in high-impact scientific journals.
