Overview

Dr. Balázs Kucska gained practical experience in aquaculture production as a hatchery technician after graduation. He started his scientific career in a research institute, where he participated in several R&D projects. Since 2013, he has been working in the academic sector, where he is responsible for teaching, coordinating research projects and supervising undergraduate, master and PhD students. The main objective of her research is to develop and improve new feed recipes for different fish species using non-traditional feed ingredients to strengthen the circular economy. Another important area of his research is the development of new methods of fish propagation. His personal research interests also include the application of precision engineering and digitalisation in aquaculture.

Projects

Goodfish, GINOP-2.3.2-15-2016-00025
The GOODFISH project aimed to improve the farming technology of three indigenous species of fish, carp, catfish and pikeperch, taking into account technological developments and consumer needs. The project brought together four leading institutions of domestic fisheries research and education to carry out the pilot development identified in the objective.

2021-2024; 2020-1.2.4-TÉT-IPARI-2021-0001
The Hungarian and Turkish partners work together on industrial application of a novel reproduction method for seabass and pikeperch based on the scientific results (insemination) of MATE researchers. The method provides the possibility to produce higher amount of fertilized eggs per unit area.
