Overview

Zoltán Pék works at the Department of Vegetable and Mushroom Growing at the MATE Institute of Horticultural Science, where he is full professor. His research focuses on vegetable cultivation, precision agriculture, and tomato irrigation. His expertise lies in phytonutrient determination in vegetables using advanced techniques such as hyperspectral imaging, and near-infrared spectroscopy. Professor Zoltán Pék’s work contributes to questions of how environmental factors influence the phytonutrient content of vegetables. His theoretical work examines how genetic and environmental interactions affect vegetable quality and yield. His empirical work has assessed these theories in settings ranging from greenhouses and controlled environment agriculture to field trials and open-field agriculture, as well as laboratory contexts. Across his research, he uses state-of-the-art imaging and spectroscopic technologies. He authored and co-authored numerous research articles in high-impact scientific journals. Prof. Zoltán Pék has collaborated with many research groups across Europe and worldwide, and member of domestic and foreign professional associations. He regularly publish and edit scientific papers on topics related to vegetable growing for several journals, and core member of Doctoral School of Plant Science in MATE.
