Dr. Nikoletta Amanda Such - MATE Research
Overview
Dr. Nikoletta Such is a member of the poultry nutrition research group at the Institute of Physiology and Nutrition. Her focus is to get more understanding how nutrition can modify the gut microbiota in the gut of the chicken. In the previous years she carried out several animal trial with pro- and prebiotics and beside the production parameters investigated the bacteria composition of the different gut segments. The importance of this research is, that due to the increase in antimicrobial resistant bacteria, using antibiotics in animal farming should be decreased and other dietary tools should be found to improve gut health. She also doing research to decrease the environmental footprint of animal production. It includes to find alternatives of soybean meal in poultry nutrition and also to find out nutritional tools in order to decrease the ammonia emission.
