Overview

Dr. Balázs Kolics has been working for 15 years in genetics and apiculture as a researcher at the Festetics Bioinnovation Centre. His expertise lies in the development of molecular markers on various plants (potato, ragweed) and animal organisms (eel, pike, protected insect species, honeybees) within the fields of plant breeding and animal husbandry. Over the past years, his research has increasingly relied on high-throughput technologies in these areas. He possesses comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of the entire spectrum of apiculture, including commercial beekeeping, queen breeding, and the processing of apicultural products. This foundation enables him to grasp the interconnections among different disciplines within apiculture research beyond specific topics. He also integrates his research findings into educational endeavours to provide up-to-date knowledge dissemination.
