Prof. Dr. László Baranyai - MATE Research
Overview
As a professor at Department of Food Measurement and Process Control, Dr. László Baranyai's research activity is focused on machine vision and data analysis. His primary research interest is the interaction between light and biological tissue via diffuse reflectance imaging. He develops digital image processing methods for quality assessment of food, especially fresh horticultural produces. He is available to join research projects utilizing non-destructive measurement techniques, process simulation and analysis of big data collected automatically by sensors of the agriculture and food technology. He supports open science and transparency of research, prefers free software, and shares solutions on networking platforms and repositories (if possible). |

Sunburn and heat prediction in canopies for evolving a warning tech solution |
The project SHEET is to develop prediction models for heat damage in the fruit production and transfer the model in a functional mobile application. Climate change, especially heatwaves, cause huge risks for the fruit production already affecting the quality, storability, and increase food waste.
