Overview
Dr. Péter Radácsi is a horticultural engineer. His research focuses mainly on medicinal plants, including intraspecific variability (Ocimum spp., Artemisia spp.) and the effect of drought stress on the production and biological active ingredients of different species (Ocimum, Satureja, Melissa spp.). He also works with the introduction of medicinal plants to cultivation practices (Perilla frutescens, Ocimum × africanum). In addition to cultivation practice, he deals in depth with the investigation of essential oil composition with GC-MS methods.
His motto is that you cannot work successfully with plants if you do not love them. Péter Radácsi lives in Budapest with his family. He is the father of two lovely children.

Projects
Project no. 1.: Anatomical, phytochemical and bioactivity investigation of selected Artemisia taxa from Serbia and Hungary
Nine Artemisia species are present in the flora of Serbia and Hungary. University of Belgrade and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences work together in this project. The main purpose of the research is to contribute to the resolving complex taxonomy of the Artemisia genus, as well as to find new phytochemicals effective against pathogens. Therefore the main compounds in essential oils and extracts will be identified and their combinations will be tested to see the optimal combination against human and plant pathogens. To reach our aim the following directions of investigations are identified: 1.) Taxonomical and anatomical analysis (herbariums, microscopic analysis) 2.) Phytochemical analysis (essential oil yield and composition, phenolic composition) 3.) Determination of biological activities 4.) Determination of allelopathic activities.
