Overview

Kinga Katalin Lefler is a research fellow at the Department of Aquaculture of the Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety.

Her main research activity is the study of the reproductive biology of riverine fish species. The preparation and analysis of histological sections is closely related to her research. Her research also includes the determination of steroid hormones, which contributes greatly to the understanding of the reproductive cycle of different fish species. She also learned the basics of immunohistochemistry. In her teaching activities, she is involved in teaching several subjects, supervising students and PhD students.

In her theoretical work, she investigates the effects of replacing fishmeal in the feed with fermented pea protein on the fish stocks studied. What stress effects this has and how it affects growth and feed conversion efficiency.

In her empirical work, she puts these theories into practice by testing different pea varieties and experimentally feeding the finished feed. Across her research, she uses steroid hormones and other blood parameters detection.

She has authored and co-authored 28 research articles in high-impact scientific journals.
