Overview

Dr. Tamás Kocsis is an applied microbiologist whose research focuses on the interface of soil biology, food safety and analytical microbiology. His work explores the use of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry for molecular fingerprinting of biological samples, including microorganisms, food matrices and soil organic matter. By analysing protein, lipid and metabolite profiles, he investigates microbial diversity in agro-ecosystems and develops rapid analytical approaches for food authenticity and microbial strain typing. His research also addresses the selection and characterisation of microorganisms relevant for fermentation and food safety. He is an active member of international professional organisations, including the American Society for Microbiology. He also serves as Associate Editor of the journal Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems (Agro-Food Safety section), contributing to the development and dissemination of research at the interface of microbiology, food science and agro-ecosystem studies.

The research analyzes the role of policy and planning instruments in mitigating urban sprawl in the metropolitan regions of the V4 countries, with particular attention to the stability and transformation of green spaces. Building on spatial analyses and a comparative methodology, the research shows the extent to which spatial planning tools can contribute to more sustainable urban development.
