Students of Future Leadership Programme (JVP) met the members of Research Excellence and Flagship Research Groups Programmes (KKP and KKCS)
Following the success of previous years, the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences has launched the Research Excellence Programme (KKP 2025) again this year, with 15 participants receiving funding. On 10 February in Gödöllő, in his speech, Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza, praising the researchers participating in the programme, emphasised that the success of the individual is also the success of the university.
The participants of the two-year Research Excellence Programme (KKP) will be eligible for a gross annual grant of HUF 2 million, which can be used freely, as well as research advice, professional events and support to increase their scientific visibility. Launched two years ago, the programme was such a success in its first edition that there was no question of continuing it. This year, for the third time, they were able to present a certificate of membership of the KKP. 21 people applied to the KKP 2025 call for applications, of which 15 were selected by the three-person evaluation committee to receive a grant.
The Future Leadership Programme (JVP) was also presented at the opening ceremony, where Dr. Katalin Szabó, the project leader, gave a comprehensive presentation not only on the purpose and structure of the programme, but also on the results achieved so far and the objectives of the project for the future.
A networking coffee break was followed by a professional programme. The KKP and KKCs programmes place great emphasis on showcasing academic excellence, outstanding examples and good practices. A series of presentations on "Fate and Will: situations and choices in the researcher's career" featured inspiring researcher's careers as KKP and KKCs members. Dr. Tamás Bódai, Dr. Mónika Varga and Prof. Dr. András Székács gave a thought-provoking presentation on the beauty and challenges of their research careers.
It is also important for the University and the Programme that the opportunities offered by the Research Excellence and the Flagship Research Groups Programmes are also made available to the younger generation of researchers, and that a platform is created where experienced and young, emerging researchers can meet and exchange ideas. For the first time in the history of the KKP and KKCs Programmes, students were invited to attend. In the second half of the workshop, some of the Future Leaders Programme's academic career pathway participants were introduced.
Zalán Rédler (MSc in Agricultural Engineering) and Gábor Fábián (MSc in Food Safety and Quality Engineering) talked about their own ongoing research. Virág Breznyán, Lilla Makay and Tamara Papp, BSc students in Food Engineering, presented the draft of their future case study in the framework of their JVP student project "Proteins in black and white".
The professional meeting ended with a walk around the campus, given by Dr. András Béres, Campus Director, during which the participants visited the renovated part of the Szent István Campus.
